Mercy Corps Reentry Transition Center
We worked with the RTC as part of a fundraising campaign from April to June 2015. We were asked to create audio stories with RTC clients and volunteers to share their experiences in their own voices. We then did portraits with the interviewees, as well as creating a series of candid and atmospheric images of the offices during working hours--with classes, counseling sessions, and the clothing bank in operation.
Several of the portraits were printed as large posters with quotes from the interviews. They were used alongside slideshows of the center and the audio stories for the RTC booth as the featured service project at the Unitarian Universalist National Convention. The RTC hoped to raise $40,000 from the event, but in fact raised $70,000.
In addition to sharing our stories and photos at the convention, our Another Look photography appears on the homepage of the Mercy Corps NW website. Visit their Voices of Reentry page to listen to their stories.

The RTC offers a variety of services to their clients, from transportation vouchers and free clothing to vocational training, employment and housing search services, and counseling. Their support can make the difference between someone successfully transitioning from incarceration to becoming a successful member of the community again.
